August 18, Colombo (LNW): Buddhika Hewawasam has resigned as Chairman of the Tourism Development Authority, bringing his tenure at the institution to an end.
Hewawasam formally informed the Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism of his decision in a letter, citing personal reasons for his departure. His resignation comes at a time when Sri Lanka’s tourism sector continues to focus on strengthening visitor arrivals, investment and industry development.
Suranjith Wewawita has been named as his successor and is due to take over as Chairman today.
Wewawita is expected to assume his responsibilities this morning as the authority moves ahead with its ongoing programmes aimed at supporting the country’s tourism industry.
