August 20, Colombo (LNW): Former Sri Lanka Navy Commander Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda and Yoshitha Rajapaksa, the son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, have been formally indicted before the Colombo High Court over alleged corruption.

The indictments were presented by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), bringing the case into the High Court and setting the stage for further legal proceedings.

After the charges were filed, the High Court ordered that both Karannagoda and Yoshitha Rajapaksa be released on bail.

The case centres on allegations of corruption and will now proceed through the judicial process, with the accused entitled to due process and the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty.
