Foreign Ministry Launches Digital Transformation Committee

The Digital Transformation Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment convened for the first time at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Employment Arun Hemachandra.

The meeting focused primarily on plans to digitally transform the Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Discussions also covered the digital transformation of the Consular Sections of Sri Lankan diplomatic missions overseas and the integration of relevant government institutions with the consular system.

The initiative is aimed at improving the efficiency and accessibility of consular services through greater use of digital technology and stronger integration between government institutions.

Senior Additional Secretary to the President Roshan Gamage, Director General of Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs K. K. T. Kumarasiri, former Director General of Consular Affairs Sudantha Ganegamarachchi, Advisor to the Ministry of Digital Affairs Dr. Manoj Gamage, Head of Digital Transformation at GovTech Sri Lanka Michael Helm, and other members of the committee also participated in the meeting.
