Former Minister Rohitha Bogollagama Arrested by Bribery Commission

Former Minister Rohitha Bogollagama has been arrested by officers of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) in connection with an ongoing investigation.

The case against the former minister pertains to an allegation of corruption under the Bribery Act, involving events surrounding an investment promotion exhibition organized by the Board of Investment (BOI) of Sri Lanka in London in 2006.

According to the charges filed by the Bribery Commission, Bogollagama is accused of improperly influencing the Chairman of the BOI to pay over LKR 1.5 million (15 lakh) for hotel fees and exhibition expenses in violation of National Treasury regulations.
