Government to Send Top A/L Students to Study Abroad
In a landmark move to uplift Sri Lanka’s human capital, the Cabinet has approved a new scholarship program to send 200 of the country’s top-performing Advanced Level students to internationally ranked universities abroad.
The initiative, spearheaded by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya in her role as Minister of Education, aims to create a new generation of globally competitive professionals. As outlined in the 2025 budget proposal, Rs. 200 million has been allocated to fund this project.
Eligibility will be based on the highest z-scores achieved at the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination across all major academic streams. An expert panel comprising university academics will oversee the final selection through interviews and evaluations.
