Judge Ilanchelian is President of High Court Judges Association

Vavuniya High Court Judge Manikkavasagam Ilanchelian has been elected unanimously to the post of President of the Association of High Court Judges of Sri Lanka.
It was during the election held in Colombo to elect a new board of officers for 2024.
In 2022, for the first time, Judge Ilanchelian was elected to the position of President of the Association of High Court Judges, and this time, it is extraordinary that he was elected unopposed.
Judge Ilanchelian is the only person who has held this position as a Tamil National High Court Judge.
He has served as a High Court Judge in the districts of Jaffna and Trincomalee for a long time, and currently, he is working as a High Court Judge in Vavuniya.
Judge Ilanchelian has become a very respectable person in the Sinhalese society of the South due to the way he acted in the case of the shooting and killing of the police sergeant who was protecting him and the way this judge treated the sergeant’s family. He is also respected for the firm judgments he has made. He has also set a new record as the longest-serving Tamil judge in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.
