Low-level atmospheric disturbance still persists: Heavy falls above 100 mm expected (Sep 15)
September 15, Colombo (LNW): The low-level atmospheric disturbance still persists in the vicinity of Sri Lanka.
Under influence of the system, cloudy skies and showers or thundershowers are expected at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Uva and Southern provinces, and in Ampara and Batticaloa districts.
Heavy falls above 100 mm are likely at some places.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere of the island after 1.00 p.m.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimise damage caused by temporary localised strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Marine Weather:
Condition of Rain: Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Negombo to Batticaloa via Colombo, Galle, Hambanthota and Pottuvil. Showers or thundershowers may occur at few places in the other sea areas during the evening or night.
Winds: Winds will be South-westerly or Variable. Wind speed will be (25-35) kmph.
Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending Colombo to Pottuvil via Galle, Matara and Hambantota.
State of Sea: The sea areas off the coast extending from Colombo to Pottuvil via Galle, Matara and Hambantota will be fairly rough at times.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
