Sri Lanka Police have destroyed a large stock of narcotics seized during operations conducted between October 30, 2025 and August 12, 2026, according to Police Spokesman.
The destroyed narcotics included 2,259 kg and 129 g of heroin, 2,653 kg and 245 g of crystal methamphetamine, commonly known as “Ice”, and 293 kg and 755 g of cocaine.
Police said the narcotics were linked to cases in which legal proceedings had been completed.
The drugs were destroyed using the high-temperature incinerator at the “Latto Watta” facility in Wanathavilluwa, Puttalam.
Police said the destruction was carried out in accordance with the established procedure for disposing of seized narcotics following the conclusion of the relevant court proceedings.
