Police fired tear gas and sprayed water cannon to disperse hundreds of protesting Sri Lankan university students in Colombo on Tuesday (March 7) as they demanded the implementation of promised changes to the governing system. Protesters were calling for local government elections to be held as scheduled and for the abolition of the Prevention of Terrorism Act and the executive presidency.
