Sri Lanka received USD 695 million in workers’ remittances in June 2026, according to the latest figures released by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL).

The latest inflow marks a decline of USD 152 million compared to May 2026, when foreign remittances reached USD 847 million.

Despite the monthly drop, remittance inflows during the first six months of 2026 remained strong. The Central Bank reported that migrant workers sent a total of USD 4.6 billion to Sri Lanka between January and June, representing a 23.2% increase compared to the corresponding period in 2025.

Meanwhile, the CBSL said Sri Lanka earned USD 151.1 million in tourism revenue during June 2026.

However, tourism earnings for the month were lower than the USD 169.5 million recorded in June 2025, according to the Central Bank’s latest report.
