Sri Lankan Education Officials Complete Specialised Training Programme in India
A delegation of 20 officers from the Sri Lanka Education Administrative Service has completed a specialised training and capacity-building programme at the National Institute of Educational Planning and Administration (NIEPA) in New Delhi, India.
The programme, organised from October 5 to 16, brought together officials representing Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education for a series of technical sessions and knowledge-sharing activities.
The training covered key areas including educational policy formulation and implementation, leadership and institutional management, school supervision, quality assurance, governance, accountability, digital literacy and data-driven decision-making.
Participants also focused on strategic planning, resource management, stakeholder coordination and the practical application of innovative management and monitoring methods suited to Sri Lanka’s educational context.
The initiative was organised following an announcement by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025. Under the commitment, India agreed to provide 700 customised training opportunities annually for Sri Lankan professionals.
In addition to this initiative, India continues to provide annual training for 300 Sri Lankan civil servants under a Memorandum of Understanding between India’s National Centre for Good Governance and the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration.
Together, the two programmes extend India’s capacity-building support to more than 1,000 Sri Lankans each year.
