Tens of thousands of educated people leave the country fed up with Ranil

Twenty-five hundred thousand educated people fed up with the country in three years
Professor Wasantha Athukorala of the Department of Economics and Statistics at Peradeniya University has said that 2565365 people in Sri Lanka have left the country in the last two years. Accordingly, he states, 1127758 people in the year 2022, and last year 1437607 people left the country.
Of these, the number who have gone for foreign jobs is 608925. It is a percentage of about 24 percent of the total number who have gone abroad.
The professor said that in the last year 2022, 311269 people have left for foreign jobs and 297656 people in the last year.
Prof. Wasantha Athukorala said that about seventy percent of those who left for foreign jobs in the year 2023 were professionally highly qualified engineers, doctors, lawyers, accountants and others.
55 percent of the people who went abroad in the last two years are men and 45 percent are women.
Meanwhile, the number of passports issued by the Department of Immigration and Emigration in the last two years is 18,200,479.
The professor further said that information has been revealed that these people have gone abroad due to economic hardship and frustration.
