The event took place at Allendale Community Centre in Wimborne on Sunday, April 6.

Youngsters from across the region gathered to celebrate the ancient Indian art form.

A spokesperson said: “Hosted by Niruthiya Mandir dance Academy, run by Mrs. Bamini Ligababu, the vibrant showcase brought traditional South Indian culture to life through expressive storytelling, intricate footwork, and stunning costumes.

“The event was a celebration of diversity, heritage, and community spirit, leaving the audience mesmerised and eager for more.”

Bharatanatyam is one of the oldest and most popular forms of classical dance in India.

It originated in the temples of Tamil Nadu in South India.

It is known for its detailed hand movements and is said to have more than 2,000 years of lineage.
