19 Convicted Including Two Former Ministers
In a sweeping anti-corruption drive, the Commission to investigate allegations of Bribery or Corruption of Sri Lanka has successfully secured convictions against 19 individuals including two former ministers — within the first five months of 2025.
From January 1 to May 31, the Commission received 2,038 complaints and carried out 44 targeted raids, leading to the arrest of 31 suspects. Legal proceedings are ongoing, with 22 completed investigations submitted to Magistrate’s Courts and another 249 case files forwarded to three-judge High Court panels.
The Commission’s intensified operations mark a decisive step in restoring public trust and holding high-ranking officials accountable for misuse of power and public funds.
