UK could play key role in backing Sri Lanka’s econ stabilisation: Prez
UK Deputy Prime Minister David Lammy recently met Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in Colombo and discussed trade, investment and post-cyclone recovery, focussing on sectors critical to Sri Lanka’s economic stabilisation.

Lammy also discussed governance and social development reforms, which is often concerns investors and development partners while assessing long-term economic risks.

He commended Sri Lanka’s recent economic and social reform initiatives and assured the United Kingdom’s continued support for these efforts, the President’s media cell said in a post on Facebook.

Zero-tariff access for Sri Lankan textile exports to the United Kingdom, introduced last year, was highlighted as a key support for domestic manufacturing, while tourism and export industries were identified as priority areas for future cooperation.

President Dissanayake expressed confidence that the United Kingdom could play a significant role in supporting Sri Lanka’s continued economic stabilisation.
