Severe criticism has been leveled against the conduct of several officials of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) regarding the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution proposed by the government.

Observers point out a emerging dilemma: whether BASL President Rajeev Amarasuriya is following behind Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, or whether Sajith Premadasa is following behind Rajeev Amarasuriya.
