Sagara Kariyawasam, General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), has stated that Shiranthi Rajapaksa—who is currently in remand custody over allegations of financial fraud involving the Siriliya account—is not a member of the SLPP.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday (08), Kariyawasam emphasized that Shiranthi Rajapaksa is merely the wife of party leader Mahinda Rajapaksa, despite having previously functioned as an individual wielding political influence comparable to that of Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Furthermore, Kariyawasam noted that several individuals produced before court and remanded over various illegal activities, including Sugeeshwara Bandara, are also not members of the party, effectively distancing the SLPP from Shiranthi Rajapaksa in a similar manner.
