Opposition Leader Issues Milad-un-Nabi Greetings, Emphasizes Harmony and Justice
On the sacred occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, celebrating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa extended his warmest greetings to the Muslim community in Sri Lanka and across the globe.
In his official message, the Opposition Leader highlighted that the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad centered on social peace, fairness, and deep respect for diversity. He pointed out how the Prophet demonstrated peaceful coexistence within Madinah’s multi-ethnic and multi-religious society through practical actions.
“Through the historic ‘Constitution of Madinah,’ the Prophet ensured unity, equal rights, and security among diverse tribes and religious groups,” the statement noted. “He taught that true peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of mutual respect and justice.”
Reflecting on Sri Lanka’s pluralistic fabric, the Opposition Leader stressed that mutual understanding, harmony, and brotherhood are vital for achieving sustainable development and lasting peace in a multi-ethnic and multi-religious nation.
He called upon all citizens to draw inspiration from the Prophet’s message of coexistence to build a fair and inclusive Sri Lanka where every individual is respected regardless of ethnicity or religion.
Concluding his message, the Opposition Leader expressed hope that this year’s Milad-un-Nabi celebrations would foster mutual respect and usher in a peaceful, prosperous future for the nation.
