Nanda Malini Reveals Premakeerthi’s Fierce Resistance Against Radio Ban

Veteran vocalist Visharada Nanda Malini revealed in a broadcast interview that legendary lyricist Premakeerthi de Alvis waged a courageous struggle at the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) against the government ban imposed on her songs during the United National Party (UNP) administration.

She shared this memory during an interview hosted by Kelum Srimal for Neth FM years ago. Rebuffing the censorship of the era, she recalled, “Premakeerthi fought an extraordinary battle against the ban on my songs at the radio station.”
