July 27, Colombo (LNW): Five Sri Lankan cricketers have been selected by three franchises for the 2026 Caribbean Premier League (CPL), with the tournament’s overseas player lists confirming strong Sri Lankan representation in this year’s competition.
Wicketkeeper-batter Kusal Perera will turn out for the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons, while all-rounders Dasun Shanaka and Wanindu Hasaranga have been included among the overseas players signed by the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
Defending champions St Lucia Kings have also opted for Sri Lankan talent, naming spinner Maheesh Theekshana and batting all-rounder Charith Asalanka in their squad for the upcoming season as they prepare to defend their title.
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan-born cricketer Amshi de Silva has earned a place in the Trinbago Knight Riders squad. However, he has been registered for the tournament as a United States player rather than as a Sri Lankan overseas recruit.
The squad announcements were made as the Caribbean Premier League unveiled its overseas player lists ahead of the 2026 edition of the popular T20 franchise competition, with Sri Lankan players once again featuring prominently across multiple teams.
