Government Takes Step-by-Step Action to Restore Abandoned Luxury Buses

In a major effort to rebuild national assets, a large fleet of luxury buses imported under the guise of hosting international summits—which had been left to decay for years—is now being repaired and integrated into public passenger transport.
These luxury buses were originally imported during Mahinda Rajapaksa’s second presidential term in an attempt to bid for and host the Commonwealth Games.
After being abandoned and neglected for years, a significant number of these buses have already been fully restored and put into service under the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB).
