Government to Launch New ‘Cultural Triangle’ Anchored on Three Literary Giants
Under the leadership of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the government has initiated a transformative socio-cultural program aimed at fostering an empathetic and modern Sri Lankan society through the study and appreciation of world literature.
As part of this vision, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi announced plans to establish a new “Cultural Triangle” built upon three foundational figures of national and world literature:
Leo Tolstoy – Representing the depth and humanism of Russian literature.
Rabindranath Tagore – Representing the philosophical and cultural heritage of Indian literature.
Martin Wickramasinghe – Representing the modern realistic foundation of Sri Lankan literature.
Speaking in a recent interview, Minister Dr. Sunil Senevi stated that this initiative aligns with the government’s core policy framework, “A Thriving Nation, A Beautiful Life,” aiming to inspire a profound cultural awakening across the island.
