Heat Warning Issued for Several Regions Across Sri Lanka

The Department of Meteorology has issued a weather advisory warning that the heat index—the temperature felt on the human body—is expected to reach levels requiring caution across several regions today (24).

According to the department, the warning applies to parts of the Eastern and North-Central provinces, as well as the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Mullaaitivu, and Monaragala districts.

The Meteorology Department advises outdoor workers to stay adequately hydrated and take regular breaks. Members of the public are also urged to wear light-colored, lightweight clothing when stepping outdoors to mitigate heat-related risks.
