House of Fashions Owner Preethi Jayawardena Remanded

The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today (17) ordered Preethi Jayawardena, the owner of the prominent retail chain “House of Fashions,” to be remanded in custody.
The suspect was arrested by Sri Lanka Customs officials at his residence in connection with an ongoing investigation conducted by the Customs Department.
However, following his arrest, Jayawardena suffered a heart attack and was subsequently admitted to the Colombo National Hospital for treatment.
The remand order was issued by the Colombo Chief Magistrate after visiting the hospital premises to inspect the condition of the suspect while he was receiving medical care.
The House of Fashions owner currently remains hospitalized at the Colombo National Hospital under the supervision of prison officials.
