International Conference on AI’s Impact on Transport Sector Begins Under Leadership of Deputy Minister Janith Ruwan Kodithuwakku
The international conference on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the transport sector—jointly organized by the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and the National Union of Seafarers Sri Lanka (NUSS)—commenced yesterday (15) in Colombo under the patronage of the Deputy Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation, Janith Ruwan Kodithuwakku.
The conference will run until the 18th, bringing together 90 trade union delegates representing the transport sector across 60 countries.
Key dignitaries representing the International Transport Workers’ Federation attending the event include General Secretary Stephen Cotton, Incoming President Frank Moreels, Future of Work Director Baker Khundakji, Youth Section representative Preethi Singh, and Future of Work Advisory Group Chair Horacio Calculli, alongside Palitha Athukorale, Executive Officer of the National Union of Seafarers Sri Lanka.
The summit aims to create awareness regarding the significance of integrating Artificial Intelligence for transport sector workers and to establish guidelines for its implementation.
