JVP and Top Chinese Officials Reaffirm Unbreakable Party-to-Party Ties
Comrade Tilvin Silva, General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), met with Liu Jianchao, Head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), during his official visit to China at the invitation of the CPC.
At the high-level discussion, Liu Jianchao underscored that the historic friendship between the JVP and the Communist Party of China is deeply rooted and cannot be undermined by any external force. He reaffirmed China’s unwavering commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s development while respecting its sovereignty.
Comrade Tilvin Silva echoed these sentiments, noting that the relationship between China and Sri Lanka and between the CPC and the JVP has deepened further following the recent visit of JVP leader and President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. He emphasized that the current visit has opened new avenues to enhance this longstanding partnership.
Silva also expressed admiration for China’s path of development under successive leaderships, from Chairman Mao Zedong to President Xi Jinping, highlighting the CPC’s success in advancing Marxism with Chinese characteristics. He noted that the insights gained from CPC party schools and village development models could serve as valuable lessons for Sri Lanka’s progress.
The meeting was attended by Sun Haiyan, Deputy Head of the CPC’s International Department, and several senior officials. Representing the JVP were Deputy Ministers Eranga Gunasekara and Munir Mulaffar, along with MPs A.M. Jegadeswaran, Deepthi Wasalage, and Dharmapriya Wijesinghe.
The dialogue served as a powerful reaffirmation of the strategic and ideological alignment between the two parties, with both sides pledging continued collaboration for shared goals.
