More Details Emerge on Shiranthi’s Fake Doctor
Further notorious details have emerged regarding Sangeeth Jayasekara (alias Rambukwelle Adikarige Sangeeth Jayasekara), who remains in remanded custody over making false statements that directly threaten Sri Lanka’s national security and incite public unrest.
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has uncovered that the suspect operated under multiple aliases and possessed several fake National Identity Cards (NICs). Passing himself off as Shiranthi Rajapaksa’s personal physician to establish close ties with the Rajapaksa family, investigations revealed he had also maintained various connections with several ministers during the Ranil-Maithripala coalition government.
Further investigations have been handed over to the Colombo Terrorism Investigation Division (TID). Following his presentation before the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court, the suspect was remanded until the 2nd of next month.
When the defense counsel representing the suspect requested bail, Colombo Fort Chief Magistrate Pasan Amarasena issued a stern response:
“It appears the defense counsel has not grasped the gravity of the statement made by this respondent. I believe it would be fitting to play the audio recording of his statement for counsel to listen. How would you feel if someone claimed bombs were being manufactured within this court complex?” the Magistrate questioned.
