Sri Lanka recorded more than 100,000 tourist arrivals during the first three weeks of September, bringing the country’s cumulative international tourist arrivals for 2026 to 1,642,215.
According to the latest data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), a total of 107,093 international visitors arrived in the country during the first three weeks of September.
India continued to lead Sri Lanka’s tourism markets, accounting for 32,536 arrivals during the period, or approximately 30% of the total.
The United Kingdom was the second-largest source market, with 7,906 arrivals, followed by Australia with 7,393 visitors. China and Germany completed the top five, recording 6,409 and 5,440 arrivals respectively.
For the January-to-September period, India remained Sri Lanka’s leading tourism market with 418,019 arrivals.
The United Kingdom ranked second with 157,895 visitors, while China recorded 107,237 arrivals. Germany and Australia followed with 95,441 and 83,431 arrivals respectively.
