Suspected Drug Boat and One Individual Arrested Off Jaffna Coast

A boat transporting a large quantity of substances suspected to be illegal drugs and one individual were taken into custody during a special operation conducted by the Sri Lanka Navy off the Kurumantharai coast in Madagal, Jaffna, early this morning (27).

The special search operation was carried out jointly by officers attached to the Naval Command unit and personnel from the SLNS Agbo naval base.

During the raid, naval officers seized a parcel containing substances suspected to be narcotics onboard the vessel used for the alleged smuggling attempt.

The Sri Lanka Navy is conducting further investigations into the incident and the suspected smuggling network.
