TN CM Vijay returns to Chennai after securing Rs 15,300 crore investment deals in London
CHENNAI: Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay returned to Chennai on Thursday morning after completing a visit to London that secured investment commitments worth Rs 15,300 crore for Tamil Nadu, according to a statement issued by the state government. The government, in a statement, described the visit as a major milestone in its efforts to position Tamil Nadu as one of the world’s leading destinations for investment, industrial growth and innovation.
The overseas engagement was aimed at presenting the state’s manufacturing strengths, skilled workforce, infrastructure and investor-friendly environment to global companies and business leaders. During the London visit, investment agreements valued at Rs 15,300 crore were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Vijay.
The proposed projects are expected to generate employment for more than 10,000 people in Tamil Nadu once they are implemented, the statement said. The statement further said the agreements reflected growing international confidence in Tamil Nadu’s economy and its capacity to support large industrial projects.
It added that the visit would contribute to the state’s broader strategy of attracting fresh capital, expanding employment opportunities and accelerating industrial development across various sectors.
According to the statement, CM Vijay’s engagement in the United Kingdom was not merely an investment-promotion exercise but an important step towards strengthening Tamil Nadu’s long-term economic ties with global industries. The government said such international outreach would help bring advanced technology, new production facilities and high-quality employment to the state.
The administration also indicated that similar overseas investment missions would continue as part of its plan to transform Tamil Nadu into a preferred destination for global investors.
The focus would remain on securing projects capable of supporting sustainable growth and creating jobs for the state’s young people.
After completing the engagements in London, CM Vijay arrived in Chennai on Thursday morning. He thanked members of the Tamil diaspora in the United Kingdom for the warm reception and support extended to him throughout the visit.
The state government maintained that the outcome of the tour demonstrated Tamil Nadu’s strong appeal as an industrial investment destination. It said the agreements signed in London would further strengthen the state’s development trajectory and reinforce its ambition to emerge as a globally competitive economic hub over the coming years, it added.
