Former Minister Jayarathna Herath has rejoined the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP).

A veteran member of the SLFP, Herath had previously aligned himself with Sajith Premadasa’s Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB). Throughout his political career, he served as an organizer for the SLFP and the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) in constituencies including Kurunegala, Polgahawela, and Mawathagama, and later served as the SJB chief organizer for the Yapahuwa electorate.

Following his return, Herath accepted his appointment letters as the SLFP Chief Organizer for the Polgahawela electorate and District Leader for the Kurunegala District from SLFP Chairman Nimal Siripala de Silva.

The event was attended by SLFP General Secretary Duminda Dissanayake, National Organizer MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, Treasurer Lasantha Alagiyawanna, Deputy Secretary Jagath Pushpakumara, and former North Western Provincial Minister and Kurunegala Organizer Lakshman Wedaruwa, among others.

notably, Duminda Dissanayake, Chamara Sampath Dassanayake, and Jagath Pushpakumara—who were present at the event—are currently facing legal proceedings in court over allegations of fraud, corruption, and financial crimes.
