A Friendly Swap? Questions Raised as Shiranthi Returns and Ranil Departs for Singapore

Political observers have raised eyebrows following the quick succession of events where Mary Lourdes Wickremesinghe, widely known as Shiranthi Rajapaksa, returned to the island on Tuesday (06) early morning, while former President Ranil Wickremesinghe made a sudden departure to Singapore.
Shiranthi Rajapaksa had originally left for Singapore citing urgent medical treatment, but eventually returned to Sri Lanka via Malaysia. Meanwhile, Ranil Wickremesinghe’s unexpected departure to Singapore has also been officially framed as a visit for medical care.
The simultaneous movements have drawn political attention, particularly given that Arjun Mahendran, a key figure linked to the Central Bank bond scam, currently resides in Singapore holding citizenship.
