14,000 Vehicles Imported to Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka Customs has recorded over Rs. 900 billion in revenue so far this year, with vehicle imports playing a major role in the surge following the lifting of import restrictions.
Since February 1, 2025, approximately 14,000 vehicles have entered the country, generating around Rs. 165 billion in revenue. Customs officials estimate that this number could rise to Rs. 450 billion by the end of the year.
Speaking at a media briefing in Colombo, Additional Director General of Customs Seevali Arukgoda stated that the department is well-positioned to exceed its 2025 revenue target of Rs. 2,115 billion. Last year, Customs surpassed its goal of Rs. 1,533 billion by collecting Rs. 1,535 billion.
