Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly reshaping the legal services industry, with firms increasingly turning to technology to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Against this backdrop, Australian-based 3Rive Technologies has announced a partnership that could strengthen both its international ambitions and Sri Lanka’s growing reputation as a centre for AI engineering.
The company has become an official partner in Anthropic’s Claude Partner Network, a global group of organisations trained to help businesses adopt Claude, Anthropic’s family of AI models. 3Rive believes it is among the first legal technology companies focused solely on AI services to join the network.
Although headquartered in Australia, 3Rive operates its engineering and AI development centre in Sri Lanka, from where it supports law firms and legal businesses in Australia and the United Kingdom. The company also has a regional office in Dubai and plans to establish a presence in the UK, reflecting its strategy to expand into key international markets.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer Chuck Silva said the partnership represents more than a business milestone. He described it as validation of the company’s long-term strategy of building an AI-first legal technology business rather than adapting traditional services to incorporate AI at a later stage.
“We set out to build something different,” Silva said, adding that businesses embracing AI as a core capability today are likely to shape the future of legal services over the next decade.
A key part of the company’s business model is what it calls “Cognitive Outsourcing.” Instead of simply supplying software, 3Rive takes responsibility for managing selected back-office functions while investing in AI-powered improvements over several years. At the end of the process, clients retain ownership of the AI systems developed for their operations, allowing them to continue benefiting from the technology.
The company says it applies the same principles internally. AI tools are integrated into engineering, project delivery, marketing and administrative work, enabling teams to automate routine tasks and focus on higher-value activities.
Industry observers note that demand for AI solutions within professional services is growing as organisations seek faster document handling, improved workflow management and more efficient client services. Companies capable of combining technical expertise with industry knowledge are expected to benefit from this shift.
Beyond commercial expansion, 3Rive is placing significant emphasis on developing Sri Lanka’s AI ecosystem. The company plans to host public workshops, live demonstrations and community meetups in Colombo in the coming months to help local software developers gain practical experience with AI technologies.
It is also applying to join Anthropic’s Claude Community Ambassadors programme, which supports organisations promoting AI education and collaboration within local technology communities.
Silva said Sri Lanka has the talent needed to become a recognised destination for advanced AI engineering, but sustained investment in skills development and knowledge sharing will be essential. By connecting local engineers with global AI platforms, he believes the country can strengthen its position in an increasingly competitive digital economy while creating new opportunities for technology professionals.
