Satellite imagery indicates that the extremely heavy rainfall currently affecting several parts of the island is likely to continue.

Satellite observations recorded around 8:30 AM today confirmed the formation and intensification of rain clouds over the Indian Ocean, east of Sri Lanka.

Concurrently, the Department of Meteorology forecasted that rainy conditions are expected to enhance further after August 6.
