Muslim Congress MP Abdul Wahid Resigns

Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) National List Member of Parliament M.S. Abdul Wahid has resigned from his parliamentary seat.

Acting Secretary-General of Parliament Hansa Abeyratne has informed the Chairman of the Election Commission in writing that MP Wahid has tendered his letter of resignation.

According to the letter submitted by M.S. Abdul Wahid, the resignation comes into effect from September 14, 2026, the Acting Secretary-General stated.

Accordingly, the Chairman of the Election Commission has been notified of the vacancy created in the Tenth Parliament, in terms of Section 64(5) of the Parliamentary Elections Act No. 1 of 1981.
