Harsha Illukpitiya Has Unconditionally Pleaded Guilty in Court

Source

Controller General of Immigration and Emigration, Harsha Illukpitiya, has unconditionally pleaded guilty before the Supreme Court in a high-profile contempt case.

The case stems from allegations that Illukpitiya failed to comply with a Supreme Court order related to the implementation of Sri Lanka’s electronic visa issuance process. The court had previously instructed action on the matter, but the directive was reportedly not executed as required.

During proceedings held today (July 1), Illukpitiya admitted guilt without conditions. The Supreme Court announced that sentencing will be delivered on the 24th of this month.
