Indictments Served on Yoshitha and Wasantha Karannagoda

Indictments were served today (20) at the Colombo High Court against former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda and Yoshitha Rajapaksa, son of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Charges against former Navy Commander Wasantha Karannagoda state that while serving as the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy between September 1, 2006, and June 8, 2007, he unlawfully facilitated the opportunity for accused Yoshitha Rajapaksa to attend the Royal Navy Young Officers Course at the Royal Naval College in the United Kingdom, thereby causing a financial loss to the state.
Accused Yoshitha Rajapaksa faces charges related to obtaining wrongful gain through the aforementioned act.
Following the serving of indictments, the High Court ordered both defendants to be released under strict bail conditions.
