JVP General Secretary and Delegation Meet Delhi Chief Minister

A delegation led by the General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), Tilvin Silva, currently on an official visit to India, met with the Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, yesterday (30).

The meeting was also attended by Delhi’s Education Minister Ashish Sood and other official representatives.

During the discussion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her delegation briefed the JVP General Secretary and his team on key development initiatives and welfare projects implemented by the Delhi State Government to address public needs and improve urban infrastructure.

Special focus was placed on eco-friendly transport initiatives, particularly the expanding electric bus network and the enhancement of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. The Delhi officials noted that the state government is rapidly scaling up its public transport system with a significant addition of electric buses in 2026.

The dialogue also covered government programs aimed at women’s welfare, economic empowerment, and independence, alongside state initiatives designed to uplift education, healthcare, and child welfare facilities.

JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva outlined the ongoing social and economic transformations in Sri Lanka and the welfare programs currently being executed to improve living standards. He also highlighted the “Clean Sri Lanka” initiative, aimed at driving public attitudinal change and ensuring sustainable environmental cleanliness across the island.

The meeting provided an important platform for both sides to exchange insights, political and administrative experiences, and best practices in public welfare and urban development.
