Moving Forward to Erase Dark Stains Through the Bonds of Brotherhood

A broad public dialogue is currently underway to ensure that events like “Black July”—which laid the foundation for Sri Lanka to be branded globally as an island of barbarians-and any other form of racial or religious conflicts will never recur in the country.
For nearly two decades, the Socialist Youth Union (SYU) has designated July 23rd as “Brotherhood Day” (Sahodorathwaye Dinaya), actively driving an ideological campaign aimed at uniting and rebuilding the Sri Lankan people.
As part of this ongoing discourse, a special panel discussion was held yesterday (23), featuring Minister Bimal Rathnayake, journalist and social activist Tharindu Jayawardhana, along with journalist and veteran artist Vimal Ketipearachchi. The discussion was moderated by Mahesh Ambepitiya on behalf of the Socialist Youth Union.
