The gathering brought back nostalgic memories of the duo’s early artistic journeys. Victor Rathnayake had previously recalled how he congratulated Nanda Malini when both participated in a music competition as amateur artists, where she secured first place.
Their combined journey marked a milestone in Sri Lankan cinema music when they performed the song “Sara Sonduru Mal Patalee” for the film Hanthane Kathawa, directed by Sugathapala Senarath Yapa. The iconic song was co-written by Sugathapala Senarath Yapa and Mahagama Sekara, with music composed by Premasiri Khemadasa.
