President Issues Milad-un-Nabi Message, Calls for Social Justice, Unity, and Moral Integrity
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake extended his warm greetings to Muslims in Sri Lanka and around the world on the holy occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad.
In his official message, the President emphasized that the celebration goes beyond a mere festival, serving as a period for deep spiritual reflection aimed at building an equitable society. He described Prophet Muhammad as one of the greatest religious leaders, whose life of immense patience and compassion guided humanity from darkness into light.
“Throughout 23 years of hardships and unmatched sacrifices, the Prophet’s ultimate goal was to build a society where peace, brotherhood, purity, integrity, and justice prevail,” President Dissanayake stated. He highlighted that the Prophet rejected discrimination based on race, caste, color, or lineage, teaching that true greatness lies in virtues such as truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance.
The President noted that the Prophet laid the foundation for social justice and equality by bridging economic divides and upholding the rights of the underprivileged. He added that Prophet Muhammad’s vision provides vital guidance for Sri Lanka’s vision of establishing a nation governed by the rule of law, justice, and equality for all citizens.
Furthermore, President Dissanayake highlighted how Islamic teachings reinforce efforts to maintain social ethics, particularly referencing the national campaign launched by the government against the drug menace in Sri Lanka.
Concluding his message, the President expressed confidence that the Prophet’s legacy of humanity and sacrifice would illuminate the nation’s path toward a new era of healing, brotherhood, and mutual respect. He invited all citizens to reflect the Prophet’s exemplary life in their daily conduct and wished everyone a meaningful Milad-un-Nabi celebration.
