Treasury Scores Massive Win: Budget Surplus Reaches Nearly Rs. 197 Billion

For the first time in nearly seven decades since independence, Sri Lanka has recorded a massive overall budget surplus of close to Rs. 19,700 Crore (Rs. 197 Billion) within the first five months of this year.
Independent financial analysts have expressed astonishment over this rare achievement, noting that the historic surplus was recorded after fully settling both the interest payments and debt installments due for the respective five-month period.
According to reports, this significant economic milestone was achieved through the direct intervention and strategic financial management of President and Minister of Finance, Anura Dissanayake.
