Man Arrested by TID for Spreading False Information on Media

The Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) has arrested an individual for spreading unverified and false information during a media conference circulated via social media.

The suspect was taken into custody for falsely claiming that an LTTE training camp was operating in the Palei Reserve within the Akkarayankulam police division.

The arrested suspect is a 46-year-old resident of Bellanwila, Boralasgamuwa.

Police stated that the suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today (19). Legal action will be taken against him under the provisions of the Penal Code of Sri Lanka and the Police Ordinance.
