Final Rites of Ven. Rambukana Siddhartha Thera Performed Today

The cremation ceremony of the late Ven. Rambukana Siddhartha Thera will take place this evening (21).

Ven. Rambukana Siddhartha Thera was a distinguished Buddhist monk who made an exceptional contribution to the enrichment of Sri Lankan song and music culture. Through simple yet profound lyrics, Ven. Thera offered deep socio-economic commentary, creating timeless art with deep empathy for the oppressed.

It was previously revealed by the late Ven. Thera that his renowned song “Pansale Palliye Dahadiyen Api Thanū – Pilima Dā Gab Pene Lōkayak Dana Dæmū” was written to the rhythm of The Internationale (“Sā Dukin Pelanawun Dæn Itin Nægitiyaw”), the globally recognized socialist anthem.
