Sagara Kariyawasam Expresses Regret to IGP; Granted Bail Under Strict Conditions with Travel Ban

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam, who was arrested by the Central Crime Investigation Bureau and produced before court, has expressed his regret to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya regarding his remark.
Attorney-at-Law Sagara Kariyawasam presented himself to the Central Crime Investigation Bureau today (10) morning following a summons to record a statement over a remark made targeting the IGP, claiming that he might be stoned to death on the street.
After hearing the legal arguments, Kaduwela Magistrate Aruna Buddhadasa ordered his release on bail while imposing a foreign travel ban on him.
Accordingly, Sagara Kariyawasam was granted bail on two personal bails of Rs. 2 million each, and the court ordered his release upon the completion of the bail conditions.
